China NPL Market Largest in the World

China’s non-performing loans (NPLs) have experienced a dramatic rebound and have now risen to levels last seen in 2004 when the four large state controlled banks removed NPLs from their balance sheet in pursuit of recapitalization and public listings. Unlike the last pre-2005 cycle when many NPLs were policy loans lent to state owned enterprises, the current NPL cycle is driven by a lethal combination of high leverage and a slow-down in the economy

Our NPL Lab will serve as a platform to provide students, researchers, and market participants of the most detailed and up-to-date China NPL data and analysis. Our goal is to become a leading researcher and advisor to banks, governments and investors on how to forecast the NPL trend, how to analyze and price NPL portfolio, and how to invest and dispose NPLs.
